Can the HMI only be connected to a PLC?

Can HMIs only be connected to other devices via standard serial communication ports?

Is it true that devices with communication capabilities can always be connected to HMI products?

Because common HMI products provide a large number of commonly used device communication drivers to choose from; in general, as long as the HMI screen configuration software to select and connect the device corresponding to the communication driver, you can complete the HMI and device communication connection. If the configuration software of the selected HMI product does not have the communication driver for the connected device, the user can inform the manufacturer of the HMI product of the type of communication port and protocol content of the connected device, and ask the HMI manufacturer to compile the communication driver for the device.

 

Can a PC with a display communicate directly with a PLC to fulfill the function of an HMI?


Of course. However, the PC also needs to be programmed with the appropriate configuration software in order to make the PC a real HMI product.

 

What is the future development trend of HMI?

 

With the development of digital circuits and computer technology, the future of HMI products in the function of high, medium and low division will be less and less obvious, HMI functions will be more and more rich; 5.7 inches above the HMI products will be all color display, screen life will be longer.

 

Due to the reduction in the cost of computer hardware, HMI products will be flat-panel PC computers for HMI hardware for high-end products, because this high-end products in the processor speed, storage capacity, the type and number of communication interfaces, networking capabilities, software resource sharing have a greater advantage in the future direction of development of HMI products.
