Industrial Control Computer (Industrial Control Computer, ICC) and Programmable Logic Controller (Programmable Logic Controller, PLC) are used in industrial automation control system equipment, but there are some differences between them.

Industrial control computer is a kind of computer system specially used in the field of industrial control, featuring high performance, reliability and scalability. It can handle complex control algorithms and data processing tasks, support a variety of communication protocols and input/output interfaces, and can be used to monitor, control and optimize the operational efficiency of production lines.

PLC is a digital electronic device based on microprocessor technology, mainly used for logic control and process control in industrial automation control system. It can be programmed to realize various control logics and functions with high reliability, stability and flexibility.PLC usually adopts modular design, and different modules can be selected to meet different control requirements.

There are four differences between them:

1. Different functions: an industrial control computer is a general-purpose computer system that can perform a variety of tasks, including data processing, control algorithms, communications and so on. PLC, on the other hand, is a digital electronic device designed specifically for industrial automation control, the main function is to realize logic control and data acquisition.

2. Programming is different: industrial control computers can be programmed through a variety of programming languages, such as C language, assembly language. PLC usually use Ladder Diagram or Function Block Diagram and other graphical programming language for programming.

3. Hardware structure is different: industrial control computers usually have more powerful processors, larger memory and more input and output interfaces to support more complex applications. PLC is usually modular design, each module has a specific function, can be combined and expanded as needed.

4. Different scope of application: Industrial control computers are suitable for various industrial automation control systems, including robotics, automated production lines, energy management, etc. PLCs, on the other hand, are mainly used in the manufacturing industry. PLC, on the other hand, is mainly used in manufacturing, logistics, transportation and other areas of automation control.

Although both industrial control computers and PLCs can be used in industrial automation control systems, their application scenarios and characteristics are slightly different. ICCs are more suitable for large and complex control systems, such as aerospace, energy, etc., while PLCs are more suitable for small control systems, such as machining and logistics. At the same time, ICC usually requires higher computing power and larger storage space, while PLC is more focused on real-time performance and reliability.

In conclusion, industrial control computers and PLCs are both important devices in industrial automation control systems, but there are some differences in their functions, programming methods, hardware structures and application scope. Which device to choose depends on the specific application requirements and budget constraints.
