HMI design is easy to master, but difficult to master. A well-designed HMI will allow users in the area to access the right information and controls without having to jump through multiple hoops.
In other words, the design should include the elements the operator needs and eliminate those that aren't. In addition, efficiency translates into HMI design best practices when it comes to each type of screen layout.
During the HMI development and HMI programming phases of a system integration project, you must keep the following basic design considerations in mind:
Are the buttons the right size?
Can each screen be accessed without excessive navigation loops?
Can you start and stop the process from each relevant screen?
Can you change a recipe that is not currently running?
